FAQs
What does “Yindyssagh” mean?
This is from Manx Gaelic and means “wonderful”.
How long have you been doing this?
We have been 3D printing as a hobby and getting used to it for a few years now. We have wanted to do this for a long time!
How does FDM printing work?
This is a very brief answer to that question.
3D printers work by using a squeezing molten plastic from a nozzle on to a heated plate, where it cools into a solid. The nozzle hot-end is moved around in the X and Y planes by a cartesian robot. Layer by layer (the Z plane) the printer will build the model from the ground upwards, where eventually the print will be finished. This is called Filament Deposit Modelling. The printer is supplied with a list of instructions from software called a slicer, which takes a 3 dimensional mesh from a computer, and “slices” it into each layer. These instructions tell the printer how much filament to extrude, and the speed of the movements for each layer.
What printers to Yindyssagh Prints use?
We use Bambu Lab printers, because they are easy to use and provide very good quality results. We have used other manufacturers in the past, but in our experience Bambu Lab equipment offers the best technology for us.
What filaments do you use?
We use Bambu Lab filament as it is very high quality and in our experience has provided fuss-free and consistent printing when used in combination with the Bambu Lab printers. Higher quality filament typically results in fewer failures, and better finishes. We are committed to offering great value by keeping our prices as affordable as possible, ensuring you get the best of both quality and cost, and minimising waste.
Where do you ship to?
Currently we are only shipping to Isle of Man. To keep our prices competitive, we offer free shipping on orders exceeding £15.00.
How should I care for my models?
Bear in mind that the models are made from bio-based, plant-sourced PLA plastic and are not indestructable. The articulated models from our partners such as Zou3D and Saber3d will naturally be somewhat more delicate because of their links. Please be gentle with your models, do not drop them, force them, expose them to intense heat or strong chemicals. Avoid exposing it to heat above 65°C (150°F) or placing them in direct sunlight for extended periods. To clean, gently wash with soap and lukewarm water.
Any other cautions we should be aware of?
The models (unless otherwise specified) are 3D printed using PLA (Polylactic Acid). PLA is a non-toxic, corn starch-based plastic that is biodegradable. While the material is safe, it should not be ingested, as it poses a choking hazard. Due to the risk of small pieces detaching, these models are not suitable for children under 3 years old. We strongly recommend adult supervision when younger children are using the products. They are not intended for unsupervised use by younger children, and we are not responsible for any misuse.
What if I am not happy with my product?
Your satisfaction is important to us! If you’re not happy with your purchase, please reach out. We offer refunds for products returned in their original, unboxed condition. If you have concerns about a faulty print that slipped through our quality control or an unexpected breakage, let us know so we can address the issue.
Please note, we are unable to resolve issues related to normal wear and tear.
Colours or shades may vary slightly from actual due to the following reason/s:
1. User’ screen monitors might display colours differently. We try extremely hard to ensure our photos are as life-like as possible, but please understand the
actual color may vary slightly from the representation on your monitor.
2. Shades of filament may change slightly over time due to pigment batches. We cannot guarantee that the colour you see accurately portrays the true colour of the product, but we guarantee the style is the same as shown in the pictures.
